Keeping up with aftercare post nail appointment is essential to achieving a long lasting manicure.
Here are our top tips to keep your nails looking as good as new post treatment:
1. Use Cuticle Oil Every Day
Using cuticle oil daily not only keeps the nails hydrated, it also prevents your gel polish/BIAB from lifting. Regular use of cuticle oil lengthens the life of manicures, nourishes the nails, and leaves cuticles soft to touch.
Shop Cuticle Oils
2. Don’t Use Nails as Tools
Your nails are jewels, not tools. Using your nails to open cans or scratching surfaces weakens the gel bond, increasing the chance of lifting or chipping. Avoid using your nails as tools at all costs!
3. Wear Gloves for Cleaning or Washing Up
Protective gloves are a gel manicure’s best friend. Harsh chemicals, such as cleaning products, and water exposure can cause lifting and dullness with gel polish and BIAB. It’s important to always wear protective gloves to protect the nails.
4. Avoid Biting or Clipping Nails
Biting or clipping weakens the nail and disrupts the gel’s seal, leading to lifting and breakages. We recommend gently filing nails if needed, or popping into clinic to see us.
5. Don’t Peel Off the Gel Polish
Avoid peeling off you gel or BIAB! Peeling off product damages the natural nail as it often lifts off layers of your natural nail alongside the gel, making it weaker and prone to breakage. Always remove your nails the correct way, or book in a removal with us.
