Fat Freezing – Cryolipolysis
As the temperature drops, let’s take it a little lower, to be precise -7 degrees and talk “Fat Freezing”.
A unique, non-invasive and non-surgicial alternative to liposuction. Technically, known as Cryolipolysis. This one off treatment effectively treats those stubborn pockets of fat that do not seem to shift no matter how many gym sessions you sweat through or regardless of the amount of kale you consume.
The Science
Fat Cells after typical weigh loss get smaller but the number of cells remains the same. Losing and gaining weight does not increase or decrease the number of cells, it just changes the size of the cells. Fat Freezing is different, in that it will actually destroy and reduce the number of fat cells within that area without effecting the surrounding nerves, blood vessels and skin. This is due to the fact that fat cells have a weak structure and cannot survive at a very low temperature. The fat cells crystallise (freeze) at such a lower temperature and are destroyed. Over the next 6 -12 weeks the body naturally processes the fat through the lymphatic system and eliminates the dead cells. Once the treated fat cells are gone, they are gone for good and will not migrate to a different area of the body. With a one off treatment of Cryolipolysis , 20 – 40 % of fat cells within that treated area are destroyed and naturally dissolve over the next few months.
What Happens During the Treatment?
A treatment hand piece is placed onto the skin in the area to be treated and a vacuum is created, drawing the fat into the hand piece. You will feel a slight pulling sensation and then the area will go cold and numb within a few minutes. Whilst this is not a painful treatment some clients can experience minor redness and swelling immediately after the treatment. Minor bruising and tenderness within the treatment area post 10 days can also be a possibility.
